Hip Pain
Labral Tears
Labral tears of the hip joint are similar to the labral tears of the shoulder joint. The socket of the hip is deepened with help of a soft tissue cover that is called as the labrum. This layer is bound to get injured in games requiring a high range of motion at the hip joint. Most commonly seen with football and athletics.
Typically the patient will complain of locking catching sensation with range of motion activities. The restricted range of motion can also be the primary complaint. The initial treatment essentially is conservative for all patients. The diagnosis is essentially clinical and is usually backed up by radiological evidence also. The sports specialist must clinically evaluate the patient to rule out the presence of other closely related differential diagnoses.
