Labral Tears
Usual injuries(dislocation) to the atheletic shoulder lead to an Anterior soft tissue tear which leads to a recurrent anterior dislocation in abduction and external rotation manuover. This tearing of anterior Capsulo-labral complex is called a bankart lesion. Biceps is attached to a part of the superior most labrum and is typically avulsed in throwing athletes. This can also occour after a traumatic event and lead to a painful shoulder. Posterior dislocation or reverse bankart is fairly...

Rotator cuff Pathology
Rotator cuff consists of group of four muscle tendons whih make the ball of the shoulder (humerus) move in the socket (Glenoid). These tendons undergo degenerative changes with age or might get torn due to repetitive micro-trauma. In most cases the patients suffering from a rotator cuff pathology are elderly. But, athletes recurrently involving in overhead activities also suffer from similar symptoms owing to micro-tears in the substance of the tendons owing to overuse. Once these tendons...

Throwing shoulder
Throwing athletes or athletes typically involved in overhead sports like badminton, lawn tennis, squash & baseball typically have a repetitive trauma to the capsule of the joint. The activity involves an impact injury during the deceleration phase of the throw/shot which damages the posterior part of capsule. Due to healing after the injury, scarring takes place which tightens the posterior capsule. This eventually leads to an altered kinematics during throw. During a violent throw this might...
